STOP THE RUNFOLD COMPOSTER
Jeremy is working with local residents and Councillors who are opposing plans for a new composting facility at SITA’s waste management site in Runfold. There are concerns about the visual impact of the proposals on the surrounding area, how the quarry will affect the air quality through emissions, the increased noise from the quarry as the work is undertaken and HGV vehicles drive through the narrow roads, the impact on health through bio fuels and flies for example and also the increased HGV traffic that the quarry will result in.
PROTECTING OUR NHS
Although Milford and The Royal Surrey are safe after tireless campaigns supported by Jeremy Hunt, there are concerns over bed closures at Haslemere Hospital
SUPPORT LOCAL POLICING
Local MP Jeremy Hunt is launching a campaign to ensure potential measures being taken by Surrey Police do not reduce locally-based policing in Farnham, Godalming and Haslemere.
SAVE BISHOPS MEADOWS
Bishops meadows in Farnham, is currently up for sale. There has been concern that the land could be used as SANGS and as such a local solicitor has set up the Bishops Meadow Trust with a view to purchasing the land for the people of Farnham. At a packed public meeting on the issue in St Andrew’s Church on Wednesday 18 November, the consensus seemed to be that residents wanted the land protected indefinitely and the way forward was for the town to club together and make a bid for the land. Jeremy is fully behind this plan.
RIDE PEGASUS SERVICE
The Ride pegasus Scheme is a popular bus service that transports hundreds of children to school around Surrey. The County Council have announced that it will be axed in July 2010. Jeremy wants to help the concerned parents find alternative arrangements in light of this decision to avoid environmental implications of extra traffic on the roads and also help parents who have come to rely on the service, particularly for the many who have been able to go back to work as a result.
GARDEN GRABBING
Over recent years, South West Surrey has suffered dramatically at the hands of developers who have purchased large houses and converted them into flats.
Jeremy is campaigning vigorously to ensure Waverley Borough Council and Central Government wake up to the threat which is destroying the character of Godalming, Haslemere and Farnham.
SAVE OUR POST OFFICES
The Government is planning to close a further 2,500 Post Offices across the UK. In South West Surrey, despite the fact that five Post Offices have already been closed down since 1999, Tilford and Station Hill Post Offices are proposed for closure, subject to public consultation.
Jeremy is fighting to save all of South West Surrey’s Post Offices from closure as he believes they play such an important role in community life and their closure would particularly affect the older and more vulnerable people who depend on them.

A3 TUNNEL
For years, people who live in and around Hindhead have had to put up with intolerable traffic chaos on the A3.
People have been campaigning for a tunnel to be installed for more than 10 years. It has finally been given the go-ahead but the timescale remains sketchy. Jeremy wants to ensure it is completed in time for the 2012 Olympics.
MOBILE PHONE MASTS
People in South West Surrey are very concerned about the inappropriate placement of mobile phone masts.
Like many constituents, Jeremy believes there needs to be tougher planning regulations on where mobile phone operators are able to erect new masts.
QUARRY THREATS
Jeremy is currently working with dozens of local campaigners to fight plans to locate quarries in Monkton Lane, in Farnham, and at Eashing Farm, near Godalming.
He wants to ensure that both sites are ruled out of Surrey County Council's draft minerals plan. Jeremy believes to locate a quarry at either site would be extremely detrimental to the constituency.
